The $110 million marine supply base at Darwin’s East Arm Wharf supports strategic industries in the Northern Territory, including oil and gas. An existing liquid mud plant facility provided mud and dry product to off shore production facilities. A restructure of port operations necessitated the relocation of the facility approximately 500 metres east of the original site.
MasterPlan prepared, lodged and managed a development application to obtain development consent. Rather than using municipal services, the marine supply base has internally reticulated wastewater infrastructure. In-depth investigations were required to identify how the new facility would connect to this network, and how wastewater would be managed. Due to its proximity to the harbour, the proposed location also required detailed site level mapping to ascertain the potential effects of storm surges and a rising sea level.
MasterPlan’s knowledge of the site and government processes assisted in navigating the complex tenure and leasing arrangements which have implications for car parking and general operations of the site. MasterPlan provide ongoing services for further additions as the operations of the facility require.
