Refreshing the MasterPlan brand after nearly 50 years was not about starting again.
It was about alignment.
Over time, MasterPlan has continued to evolve. The planning and development sector has changed, client expectations have shifted and the role of a planning consultancy has become more strategic, integrated and complex.
Our brand needed to reflect that evolution.
For a business with almost five decades of history, legacy matters. MasterPlan’s reputation has been built through long-standing relationships, deep project experience and a commitment to clear, considered advice. Those qualities are not things we wanted to move away from. They are the foundation of who we are.
The challenge was to modernise the brand without losing the trust and credibility built over decades.
Through the brand review process, we looked closely at what defines MasterPlan today. We considered how clients, industry peers and our own team understood the business, and where there was a gap between how we were perceived and the consultancy we had become.
What became clear was that MasterPlan was no longer simply a traditional town planning business.
Planning remains at the centre of our work, but our role has grown. Clients now need advisers who can help them understand risk, navigate complexity, coordinate stakeholders and guide projects from early vision through to delivery.
That requires more than technical planning input. It requires strategic thinking, practical judgement and a deep understanding of how projects move through increasingly complex environments.
Our refreshed brand reflects that broader role.
It gives greater clarity to what has always set MasterPlan apart: our experience, integrity, relationships and ability to provide practical, well-considered advice across a wide range of projects, sectors and locations.
It also gives the team a clearer expression of where the business is heading. The refresh has helped strengthen internal alignment around our purpose, values and the role we play for our clients.
The response has been exactly what we hoped for. The new brand does not feel like a different business. It feels more like who MasterPlan already is.
That distinction matters.
This is not a new direction. It is an evolution of the same MasterPlan our clients have trusted for decades.
The foundations behind our work remain unchanged. The same people, the same expertise and the same commitment to helping clients navigate complexity with clarity and confidence.
As the industry continues to evolve, strong businesses cannot afford to stand still. For MasterPlan, the refreshed brand allows us to build on our history while presenting the business with greater clarity, purpose and confidence.
It is not about leaving the past behind.
It is about carrying it forward in a way that better reflects who we are today, and where we are going next.
