Established in 1996, the Airlie Beach Tourist Park is situated on a 12-hectare site on the eastern edge of Jubilee Pocket in Queensland’s Mackay, Isaac & Whitsunday region. The property includes areas of regulated vegetation and high bushfire risk, as outlined in the Whitsunday Planning Scheme 2017.
The approved expansion includes four deluxe cabins, eight safari tents, a swimming pool, a theatre area with a 4-metre movie screen, and associated roads and landscaping. The application, lodged with Whitsunday Regional Council in October 2019 and referred to the State Development and Referral Agency, received no public submissions and was approved in March 2020.
In collaboration with Greenhill Design, Bushfire Risk Reducers, and Spectrum Environmental, MasterPlan successfully addressed vegetation and bushfire constraints to secure approval, facilitating essential upgrades to this popular tourist destination.
